Barbara Campbell

Barbara Campbell is Director of Childrens Services & Social Work within the Trust and Is also the lead Director for Quality Improvement. Barbara is a professionally qualified social worker and is committed to providing the highest standard of care to children, adults and families in need of care and protection. Barbara is committed to developing preventative services within health and social care and has a lead role in promoting health and well being within the Trust. Barbara has a particularly commitment to improving the lives of those who experience disadvantage and deprivation ; she promotes and leads the use of quality improvement approaches both for population health and for all staff and service users within the Trust. Barbara’s practice experience has focused on working within children’s services, as a practitioner and manager, as a Guardian Ad Litem and subsequently leading and shaping the social work profession with SEHSCT. More recently Barbara led the development of HSCQI, the regional approach to QI in NI.

Director of Planning, Performance & Informatics
Naomi Dunbar

Naomi Dunbar is the Interim Director of Planning, Performance and Informatics for the South Eastern Health & Social Care Trust.  Naomi worked in the private sector for a number of years before joining the Trust in 2003. Naomi has worked in the Planning, Performance and Informatics Directorate since 2008 and was appointed to the position of Assistant Director for Strategic and Capital Development in 2012, and to Interim Director in June 2021.

Naomi has responsibility for strategic planning, performance management, contracts, commissioning, informatics, encompass, capital development and consultation and engagement across the organisation.

More recently Naomi was delighted to be Head of Operations for the Covid-19 Vaccination Centre at the SSE Arena Belfast, bringing a wealth of experience from planning and implementation of large scale projects such as the Redevelopment of the Ulster Hospital.

Naomi feels privileged to work in Health and Social Care and is committed to working in partnership to improve services and ensuring they meet the needs of our local community.  In her free time Naomi enjoys socialising with her partner Shane and family / friends, walking, gardening, travelling, and reading.

Director of Hospital Services
David Robinson

David was first appointed to the Trust in February 2017 as Assistant Director of Woman and Acute Child Health. He was appointed as Director of Hospital Services in July 2019. He is responsible for services in Medicine, Surgery, Unscheduled Care and Woman and Acute Child Health across the Ulster, Lagan Valley and Downe hospitals. David is a Registered Nurse with over 20 years’ experience working in a range of hospital-based specialties, including cancer treatment. He has held a number of senior positions, and has completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Nursing and a Doctor of Nursing Science.

Director of Primary Care, Elderly & Executive Director of Nursing
Nicki Patterson

Nicki undertook her nurse training at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast in the 1980’s. Her first Ward Sister’s post was in Medicine in Ards Hospital from where she moved to become the Senior Sister in the Ulster’s Medical Assessment Unit in 1997. Following a period as Clinical Coordinator for Medical Specialties, Nicki left the Trust in 2001 to take up post as Assistant Director of Nursing in the Mater Hospital. During these years she combined full time work with part time study and completed her diploma and BSc in Nursing and an MSc in Health Services Management. She also has experience of working at the Department of Health Social Services & Public Safety where she was part of the Chief Nursing Officer team as a Nursing Officer. In the year preceeding the Review of Public Administration, she returned to the Mater as Director of Nursing and then took up post as a Nursing Co-Director in the Belfast Trust where she has worked until joining the South Eastern Trust. From June 2012 – September 2013, she has also been the NI registrant council member on the Nursing & Midwifery Council, the UK wide regulator for Nursing & Midwifery.  

Director of Finance and Estates
Wendy Thompson

Wendy is a qualified chartered accountant with over 15 years’ experience in Health & Social Care. During her career she has worked across a number of Organisations within Health & Social Care including 7 years as Assistant Director of Finance in the South Eastern Trust and 3 years as Director of Finance in HSC Business Services Organisation.

Wendy was appointed Director of Finance & Estates in September 2020, and has responsibility for all aspects of Financial Management and Governance within the Organisation, as well as management of the entire Trust estate.

Medical Director
Mr Charlie Martyn M.B, B.Ch., B.A.O., B.Sc.,(Hons), F.R.C.S.I., FFAEM

Charlie Martyn qualified in Medicine in 1983. Charlie became Consultant in Accident and Emergency at the Ulster Hospital in November 1995 and became Clinical Director of Specialist Surgery April 1996. His special interests are major trauma, hand and wrist injuries. He has been an Advanced Life Support Instructor in the UK and Republic of Ireland for over 10 years.

Director of Adult Services and Healthcare in Prison
Margaret O'Kane

Margaret is a qualified social worker with over 30 years’ experience of working in Health & Social Care in North & West Belfast Trust, Down & Lisburn Trust and South Eastern Trust.  She has been a senior manager in Hospital Social Work and Physical, Neuro, Sensory and Learning Disability Services.  She was appointed Interim Director of Adult Services & Healthcare in Prison, South Eastern Trust in May 2020. This position has responsibility for Adult Mental Health, Adult Disability, Psychology Services and Prison Healthcare.

Interim Director of Human Resources & Corporate Affairs
Claire Smyth

Claire Smyth is Interim Director of Human Resources & Corporate Affairs and is responsible for all aspects of Human Resources, Risk Management & Governance, Corporate Communications & PR and a wide range of direct patient/client facing services within the Patient Experience teams. Prior to taking up this position Claire was Assistant Director of Human Resources with specific responsibility for Organisation and Workforce Development within the South Eastern Trust.

Claire has over 25 years’ experience working in Health and Social Care services and has held a number of senior manager positions. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development and has a MA Human Resource Management.
