Nicki Patterson
Nicki undertook her nurse training at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast in the 1980’s. Her first Ward Sister’s post was in Medicine in Ards Hospital from where she moved to become the Senior Sister in the Ulster’s Medical Assessment Unit in 1997. Following a period as Clinical Coordinator for Medical Specialties, Nicki left the Trust in 2001 to take up post as Assistant Director of Nursing in the Mater Hospital. During these years she combined full time work with part time study and completed her diploma and BSc in Nursing and an MSc in Health Services Management. She also has experience of working at the Department of Health Social Services & Public Safety where she was part of the Chief Nursing Officer team as a Nursing Officer. In the year preceding the Review of Public Administration, she returned to the Mater as Director of Nursing and then took up post as a Nursing Co-Director in the Belfast Trust where she has worked until joining the South Eastern Trust. From June 2012 – September 2013, she has also been the NI registrant council member on the Nursing & Midwifery Council, the UK wide regulator for Nursing & Midwifery.
