The staff and children at Lakewood Children’s Facility in Bangor enjoyed spreading some Christmas cheer at their annual Christmas Fair which took place on Friday 16 December 2022.
The smell of freshly baked cakes and the sound of laughter filled the grounds of the facility, where staff and children rallied together to enjoy the festive celebrations.
The afternoon began with the unveiling of the ‘Dance Hall’ that had magically transformed into Santa’s Grotto. The Lakewood staff also seemed a little different and looked more like Santa and his Elves. The centre piece of the Grotto was a table filled of festive cakes and treats, some of which were made by the staff and children. Everyone enjoyed meeting Santa, taking part in Karaoke and taste testing their creative cakes.
Deputy Chief Executive & Director of Nursing, Older People & Primary Care, Nicki Patterson joined in with the festive fun, she said, “It was great to be invited to the Fair today and spend time with the children in the run up to Christmas. The cakes that the children created were wonderful, it was a lovely afternoon filled with an atmosphere of fun.”
Interim Head of Service for Specialist Residential Care at Lakewood, Alannah Brown said “It was lovely to get all the children involved at our Christmas Fair. The children really enjoyed baking the cakes, with a little help from the staff, this was a really enjoyable day for everyone involved.”
