Health Choir Sing Out to Raise Funds for Charity

29th December 2022

Staff from many disciplines across the South Eastern Trust have come together to form a new ‘Harmony in Health’ Choir, led by Emergency Department Sister, Sarah Gray.

The choir recently held their first Christmas Carol Service in the Acute Services Block, Ulster Hospital where staff, patients, families and friends gathered to listen to some favourite Christmas carols performed beautifully. It was a great opportunity to bring some festive cheer to the hospital especially after a significant period of not being able to rehearse together and sing for a live audience due to COVID.

A generous £298.56 was raised on the evening which will be donated towards Kiwoko Hospital in Uganda, a charity that the Trust has supported for several years. Kiwoko Hospital provides amazing healthcare in a challenging, resource deprived situation.

Commenting on the success of the evening, Sarah Gray said, “The choir have been rehearsing from September and have formed a wonderful bond considering most members did not know each other.  The sound they make together is fantastic and a direct result of the hours they have put in rehearsing.  They are such a fun group of people to be part of and a fine example of the committed staff that we are privileged to work alongside within the South Eastern Trust.  It was a wonderful night to be able to share with each other.

Sarah added, “It is not a closed shop however and new singers who can commit to Wednesday night rehearsals are very welcome!”

Special thanks to everyone who attended the event and contributed on the evening along with the Harmony in Health Choir who gave up their spare time to support such a worthy cause.
