Staff from Ward 6A in the Ulster Hospital who recently ran in the Belfast Marathon have donated £3,075 to Macmillan Cancer Support. A total of 15 staff, in three teams competed in a relay race to raise funds for such a worthy cause. Dr Jenny Addley, Consultant Gastroenterologist, South Eastern HSC Trust who was part of the relay team said, “Staff in Ward 6A who provide care to Gastroenterology and Haematology patients and who work closely with the Macmillan Cancer Support team, decided to take part in the Belfast Marathon to raise funds in recognition of the amazing work that Macmillan provides.”
Mary Donaghy, Strategic Partnership Manager, Macmillan Cancer Support who attended to receive the cheque said, “Macmillan is delighted that staff from Ward 6A in the Ulster Hospital ran the relay marathon and donated such a generous amount to Macmillan Cancer Support. These funds will help us to be there for people living with cancer across Northern Ireland. Thank you for your generosity.”
