Minor Injury Unit

A Minor Injury Unit can treat injuries that are not critical or life-threatening. You may wish to consider attending a Minor Injury Unit if it is suitable for the type of injury that you have.

What can be treated at a Minor Injury Unit?

Types of injuries include:

  • Injuries to upper and lower limbs
  • Broken bones, sprains, bruises and wounds
  • Bites – human, animal and insect
  • Burns and scalds
  • Abscesses and wound infections
  • Minor head injuries
  • Broken noses and nosebleeds
  • Foreign bodies in the eyes and nose

The Trust operates two Minor Injury Units.

Patients requiring medical treatment at the Ulster Hospital for a minor injury can walk in or PHONE FIRST by calling: 028 9151 0110

The PHONE FIRST service will operate 8am-6pm, Monday to Friday.

The Minor Injury Unit at the Ulster Hospital is open 8am-6pm, 7 days per week, including Bank Holidays.

Downe Hospital
Nurse Led Minor Injury Unit
Saturday - Sunday, 9am – 5pm, by appointment only.
Patients requiring medical treatment at the Downe Hospital for a minor injury must PHONE FIRST(028) 4483 8091

Those contacting the service will be
