The Community Acquired Brain Injury Team is a multidisciplinary/interdisciplinary team providing community based rehabilitation for adults following acquired brain injury.
Referral Criteria Includes:
- Brain injury has to be the primary problem
- An individual must be able to establish and engage in rehabilitation goals
- The service does not accept individuals with Stroke there are separate services for Stroke – Community Stroke Team
- Brain injury from birth or brain injury acquired as a result of alcohol or drug addiction sits outside the remit of the brain injury service
The multidisciplinary team includes:
- Clinical Psychology / Neurpsychology
- Physiotherapy
- Occupational therapy
- Speech and language therapy
- Social work
- Rehab coach
The service provides input in community settings, either in community hospitals/healthcare centres or in the client’s own home.

Referrals
The service accepts referrals from GPs, hospital, health and social care professionals and other trusts.

- Or via email braininjuryteam@setrust.hscni.net when discharge confirmed.
- GPs – email braininjuryteam@setrust.hscni.net with clear history indicating potential benefit from rehabilitation.
