Minor Injuries Unit
The Ards Minor Injuries Unit is situated at the front of the Ards Hospital site, adjacent to the GP Out of Hours. It is open Monday to Friday, 9.00am – 5.00pm. by an appointment only basis. Please call (028) 9151 0110. Those contacting the service will be given an appointment as appropriate. Closed weekends.
The unit is staffed by specially trained and experienced Emergency Medicine nurses, and can treat all minor injuries locally, providing high quality care. The unit has digital x-ray links to the Ulster Hospital and medical back up from the Emergency Medicine consultants based in the Ulster.
If your injury is not serious, go to a minor injuries unit (MIU) centre rather than an Emergency Department department. You could be seen more quickly than in a busy Emergency Department and it allows their highly trained staff to concentrate on people with serious and life-threatening conditions.
