Children’s Short Stay Assessment (Rapid Response Unit)

 

The Children’s Short Stay Assessment Unit cares for children and young people from birth up to their 16th birthday. We provide rapid assessment and treatment of a wide range of medical conditions. Children and Young people are either discharged or transferred to inpatient ward for ongoing care.

You will find us on the 3rd floor at the front of the main hospital building.


  • Opening Hours and Referral process

    Opening Hours: Monday to Friday 08:30-17:30

    Referrals are made from:

    • Local GPs
    • Emergency Department
    • Community Midwives
    • Health Visitors
    • Internal hospital staff

    You cannot self-refer to this unit.

  • Parents Facilities

    There is a parent’s tea room available for use.

    Parents can avail of the canteen which is located in close proximity to the unit

    Shop available at front of hospital and vending machines located on the 1st Floor.
