The Children’s Short Stay Assessment Unit cares for children and young people from birth up to their 16th birthday. We provide rapid assessment and treatment of a wide range of medical conditions. Children and Young people are either discharged or transferred to inpatient ward for ongoing care.
You will find us on the 3rd floor at the front of the main hospital building.

Opening Hours: Monday to Thursday 08:30-20:30 and Friday 08:30-17:30
Referrals are made from:
- Local GPs
- Emergency Department
- Community Midwives
- Health Visitors
- Internal hospital staff
- External Hospital Units
