Down SureStart is a local partnership of statutory, voluntary & community organisations who work together with children aged 0-4 years and their parents/families to experience new opportunities and maximise their full potential.
Down SureStart has been operational since 2001 and is well embedded into the local community. It covers the electoral wards of Audley’s Acre, Ballymote, Cathedral & Quoile in Downpatrick and Ardglass, Killough , Strangford and Murlough (Newcastle).

We offer a range of free programmes and activities to all families with children aged 0-4 years living within our catchment area including:
- Antenatal /Postnatal Support; Pre and Post-natal Pilates, new mums. Mellow Bumps, Solihull & hypno birthing
- Baby massage/movement programmes
- Breastfeeding Support
- Early Years Programmes / Crèche Support. Little Movers & Busy bees
- First Aid
- Healthy Lifestyle Programme; Slow cooker, Cook-it, Solid Starts, Weaning, HENRY. Health fairs , Tooth fairy Dental events & Promoting positive mental health
- Health Visiting & Midwife Support
- Home Safety Service
- Parenting Programmes; Incredible babies & Incredible toddlers & Managing children’s behaviour
- Parent & Toddler Programmes, Play together, Little movers, Fun in the Park, Fun on the beach,
- Parent and Toddler group for families of children with an additional need (Bright Stars)
- Ethnic minority group activities
- Practical & emotional home-based family support
- Dads/ male carer programmes
- Speech, Language & Communication Support ; Help kids talk, Rhythm Rhyme and story time
