In a show of kindness and community spirit, staff in the Outpatients Department in Ards Hospital decided to skip their Secret Santa this year and instead raise funds for Compassionate Cuts, an initiative providing free haircuts for people experiencing homelessness that was started by Tammy Louise McCrum.
South Eastern Trust, Outpatients Department Manager, Sharon Moore explained, “We collected £130 for Compassionate Cuts, initially after recognising a need among the homeless community for free and paid haircuts. Tammy now has a van and helps those in need in the Belfast and greater Ards Peninsula areas, not only with haircuts, but also hygiene kits and other basic items such as warm coats and clothing. We want to say thank you to everyone who donated.”
