Bereaved Parents Make Memorable Connections at Annual Wreath Making Event

10th December 2025

The Forget Me Not Focus Group at the Ulster Hospital hosted its annual Wreath-Making Workshop at West Church, Bangor, offering a warm and supportive space for bereaved parents to remember their precious babies while creating a Christmas wreath in their memory.

The group, established within Maternity Services in the South Eastern Trust, brings together parents who have experienced the loss of a baby or child, providing compassionate support throughout their grief journey.

Chair of the Forget Me Not Group Rosa Coutts shared how Christmas can be a, “Very difficult time when you have lost anyone you love.” “With many events at this time being child focused, it can be very triggering and painful. Our Forget Me Not Focus Group at the Ulster Hospital wanted to create an event to support bereaved parents at this time.”

Rosa continued, “Our annual wreath making evening provides a safe space for bereaved parents to come together and remember their precious babies while having that chance to talk and create a Christmas wreath. We are very grateful for West Presbyterian Church in Bangor for providing the space and catering for the event. We would also like to thank Tracy from Floral Creations for providing and facilitating the wreath making.”

South Eastern Trust, Bereavement Midwife, Jacqueline Dorrian added, “This annual event gives our patients an opportunity to create a wreath in memory of their baby within a safe environment surrounded by parents that understand.”
