Families Invited for a Day of Fun and Connection to Celebrate Foster Care Fortnight

1st May 2025

Crawfordsburn Country Park is opening its doors to celebrate the incredible families who open their hearts and homes to children and young people to mark Foster Care Fortnight. A family fun day has been organised by the South Eastern Trust Fostering Service teams and will take place on Saturday 17 May from 10.30am-3pm with fun and treats for all.

South Eastern Trust’s Head of Service, Fostering and Adoption, Nuala Hanna shared how the fun day will be a chance to bring families together, “For a day of celebration, connection and appreciation.”

“We believe in celebrating the incredible families who open their hearts and homes to children and young people who need a secure and loving home. As part of Foster Care Fortnight, this family fun day is our way of saying thank you to Foster Carers, their families and the amazing children and young people they support.”

Nuala continued, “Fostering is built on the power of relationships, the trust between carer and child, the bonds that heal and the connections that help young people thrive. This Foster Care Fortnight we will be celebrating the life-changing impact of these relationships and the carers who make them possible.

“Fostering doesn’t just change a child’s circumstances, it transforms their future. With love, stability and support, foster carers help children rediscover trust, build confidence and believe in a brighter tomorrow.”

Foster Care Fortnight Fun Day will take place at Crawfordsburn Country Park on Saturday 17 May 2025 from 10.30am-3pm. All are welcome to attend.
