Members from the Ulster Hospital’s Forget Me Not Focus Group came together for a peaceful sea swim at Helen’s Bay to mark Baby Loss Awareness Week.
The group is set up within Maternity Services in the South Eastern Trust to bring together parents who have experienced the death of a child or baby.
The open water swim and healing elements of nature and the sea, provided families with the opportunity for connection as those who came along shared their experiences on the loss of their precious babies.
South Eastern Trust, Bereavement Midwife, Jacqueline Dorrian described the morning as, “beautiful”. Jacqueline said, “The Group were invited by Helen’s Bay’s ‘Baywatch’ for an open water swim during pregnancy loss week to remember their babies and children that have died. It was a beautiful morning to reflect and remember. Donaghadee’s Labyrinth Collective very kindly held a meditation walk in the sand for any of the group who wished to take time for contemplation and create a sense of inner peace.”
Jacqueline added how the Group enjoyed the hot refreshments Helen’s Baywatch kindly put on offer, “Especially the homemade banana bread following the swim.”
“On behalf of the Group we would like to thank Helen’s Baywatch for inviting us and for their warm welcome.”
