The South Eastern Trust proudly celebrated AHP Day at the Ulster Hospital to acknowledge the outstanding dedication, compassion and commitment of its Allied Health Professional (AHP) staff who play a vital role in supporting patients and service users across the Trust.

As the second-largest clinical workforce in Health and Social Care, AHPs, such as Physiotherapists, Dietitians, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Radiographers and Orthoptists, bring a unique set of skills, leadership and experience to their patients.

The day is an opportunity to recognise the vital contribution of AHPs and to hear of the compassion, innovation and expertise across the teams.

This year’s celebration at the South Eastern Trust emphasised several key themes including hospital to community, treatment to prevention and analogue to digital.

Chief Executive, Roisin Coulter stated, “I am absolutely delighted to be part of today, to celebrate and say thank you to all of our AHPs. They are so important, they work in every area of the Trust right across hospital and community and we could not do what we do without them.”

Chairman, Jonathan Patton shared how our AHPs are such an important part of our healthcare family. “This is the cradle to grave service that takes account of so many in our communities, so many in hospital. Our AHPs are working to help our patients get back to their full health, to get back to where they need to be. The range of services they provide across the Trust is just immense.”

“It’s fantastic to be able to spend time with our AHPs who are here, day in, day out,” said Deputy Chief Executive and Executive Director of Nursing, Midwifery and AHPs David Robinson. “We just really appreciate all the work that they do across our community and our hospital services.”

Assistant Director, Allied Health Professions (AHPs), Joanne Shannon said,  “It is lovely to celebrate this event and have all our AHPs come together as one. We have lots of different speakers from all the different professions, sharing their experiences through study, research, innovation and how they work in the services across the Trust.

“Today is a chance to recognise everybody for what they do, on a day-to-day basis and that they are part of wider team within their profession as an AHP Team. It allows them the chance to learn together, share together and be part of the bigger picture and the solution.”

Assistant Director, AHP Workforce, Julie Alexander added, “Today is a great day as we celebrate all of the AHPs we have working within the Trust and wider fields. In the South Eastern Trust we are bringing together as many of our AHP colleagues as we can to celebrate the opportunities, the journey’s they have travelled and the innovative practice that they bring to Health and Social Care on a daily basis.

“We are delighted to host this event and have so many staff here to celebrate together.”
