Staff and service users, past and present, recently enjoyed birthday celebrations to mark 50 years of Drumlough House.
Drumlough House in Lisburn has been providing care to the local community since it opened its doors on 4th October, 1972. The team continues to provide long term and short term facilities to the older people in their care, along with facilitating resources for rehabilitation, day care and respite services.
Staff joined service users on Tuesday 8th November 2022 to celebrate this incredible milestone in Drumlough House’s caring journey. The party began with a singalong and dance session, thanks to music therapist Maria, who attends the care home once a week. The celebration continued with the residents’ families who joined in on the fun for an afternoon filled with reminiscing, tea, coffee and very importantly cake!
Senior Care Assistant Kim Nixon, who organised the event said, “It was such a lovely day being able to celebrate the people who make Drumlough House, our residents! After a hard few years of covid restrictions it was great to reunite with families and past colleagues to enjoy a day dedicated to a place that has held such a big place in our hearts over the years.”
The party was also much appreciated by Drumlough’s service users. Grace Weir, who is receiving rehabilitation at the care home said, “Everyone had a great time. All the staff worked so hard to put on a good party for us and the food was just lovely. I would like to say how much I appreciate the staff here for making me feel so welcome.”
