Newcastle Sewing Ladies have been putting needle through thread to bring comfort to those undergoing breast cancer treatment at the Ulster Hospital’s Macmillan Unit with a heartfelt donation of mastectomy cushions. Anna McNiff from the group explained how she and its members sew for charity and that twice yearly all sales from their work is donated to local charities and hospital units. “We sew for Oncology Units across Northern Ireland including the City Hospital, the Mandeville Centre in Craigavon and Ulster Hospital. We have also created quilt covers for incubators in the Neo Natal Unit in the Ulster Maternity,” said Anna. Anna added, “The Sewing Ladies were delighted to meet with the Macmillan Unit staff and we hope the mastectomy cushions provide comfort for those patients undergoing treatment.” Ward Sister Angela Berry said, “Our patients really appreciate these cushions, they are so well made and we want to say a huge thank you to the Newcastle Sewing Ladies for their very kind donation.”
