Staff at the Regional Day Procedure Centre at Lagan Valley Hospital recently showcased their baking skills in a ‘Charity Bake Off Challenge,’ raising an impressive £180 for Life & Time, a charity that provides compassionate end-of-life care within the community.
The bake-off challenge brought a touch of fun to the Centre’s audit morning, which was also packed with training opportunities for staff. Staff enthusiastically took up the challenge, with some even trying their hand at baking for the first time.
The top prize in the challenge was awarded to Theatre Nurse, Sarah McConville for her amazing Chocolate Fudge Cake. Sarah not only impressed with her baking skills, but also demonstrated her generosity by donating her winnings to Life & Time.
Reflecting on her win, Sarah said, “I am delighted to have won the bake-off challenge, but even more so to support such an important cause. Life & Time does incredible work in providing compassionate care, and I am proud to contribute.”
Operations Manager of Life & Time, Martin McGinn expressed his gratitude to the staff at the Centre, saying, “A huge thank you to the amazing team at Lagan Valley Regional Day Procedure Centre for hosting a Charity Bake Off and raising a fantastic £180 in support of Life & Time. The creativity and effort are truly appreciated. This generous donation will help us continue to provide compassionate end-of-life care to families in our community.”
Clinical Educator, Aoife McHugh from Clinical Education also commended the team’s enthusiasm, stating, “It was fantastic to see so many staff embracing the challenge, including those who had never baked before. The effort put in was incredible!
