Ravara Court in Bangor pulled out all the birthday stops this week as one of its first tenants, Betty Dowds, celebrated her 100th birthday on 2 July 2025.

Betty was joined by friends and staff who hosted a fabulous tea party complete with decorations, balloons and cake.

When asked what her secret was to reaching her momentous milestone, Betty said, “Don’t hold spite.  If you have something to say, just say it, don’t fall out with anybody, it can eat you up inside.

“I love living here at Ravara Court, there is not one person that I do not get along with. I am just so happy, just live your life, do what you want to do and enjoy every moment.”

South Eastern Trust, Ravara Court Manager, Ashley Collins shared, “It is a privilege and an honour to have Betty here at Ravara Court, she was one of the first tenants to move in.  She is a glamourous, amazing lady and is the life and soul of Ravara Court.  It is such a privilege to celebrate Betty’s 100th birthday with her, it is a truly remarkable milestone.”
