Patients across the South Eastern Trust will benefit from new activity resources thanks to the generosity of Tesco’s Community Charity Champion, Campbell Keatings and the Store Manager at Newtownards Tesco Extra, Nick Shivers.

The donation will be used to provide a range of therapeutic activity materials, including puzzles, games, arts, crafts, supplies and other engagement tools, to help improve the hospital experience for patients, particularly those living with Dementia or experiencing Delirium.

South Eastern Trust Nursing Governance Project Lead Nurse, Jacqueline Fitzpatrick, explained the difference this support will make, “This generous donation from Tesco is helping us implement the Enhanced Patient Care and Observation model, which focuses on providing meaningful therapeutic engagement, particularly for patients living with Dementia or experiencing Delirium.

“These activities can help reduce anxiety, lift mood and improve overall wellbeing, while also supporting cognitive stimulation and social interaction.

“We are incredibly grateful for Tesco’s generosity and commitment to supporting patient care in our community.”

The South Eastern Trust’s Enhanced Patient Care and Observation model aims to ensure that patients receive not only high-quality clinical car,  but also opportunities for interaction, stimulation, and comfort during their stay, recognising the vital role that mental and emotional wellbeing plays in recovery.
