Men across the Down area are being encouraged to take some time out for themselves and come along to a free Men’s Health and Wellbeing Event taking place on Wednesday 19 November 2025, from 2:00pm – 4:00pm at Down Leisure Centre, Downpatrick.
This event has been organised by the South Eastern Trust Primary Care MDT Social Work Service, to help men connect, learn and take practical steps towards improving their health and happiness.
The Listen Up Lads! event is open to all men and their families within the Down GP Federation area and no booking is required!
The afternoon aims to promote positive physical and mental health, provide access to local support services and encourage men to look after their overall wellbeing.
There will be free haircuts on offer from local barber Jamie Longfield (available on a first come, first served basis), as well as information stands from a range of health and community organisations providing advice, support and signposting.
Visitors can also avail of free blood pressure and blood glucose checks, enjoy light refreshments and connect with local social and support groups offering opportunities to get involved in community life.
Two engaging workshops will also be available on the day, Maintaining Positive Wellbeing and Physiotherapy Advice on Living Well with Age. Both workshops will run on a first come, first served basis.
