Ark Farm Delights Newcroft Residents with Spring Visit

2nd March 2026

The furriest of friends heralded the beginning of Spring at Holywood’s Newcroft Lodge as ‘chirpy’ chicks, Bluebell the bunny rabbit and baby lambs Andrew and Andrea paid residents a visit.

The arrival of the animals brought much joy as residents were able to hold, pet and help feed the lambs as part of the afternoon’s activities.

Newcroft Resident, Thelma Quick shared how much she enjoyed the visit and having the opportunity for a chance to bring the fun of the farm to an indoor setting.

“My favourite was the rabbit, Bluebell. We had one like that at home, I am one of nine children so our house was like a zoo, we always grew up with animals and my favourite was always a dog, especially a Basset Hound. It was a terrific visit.”

South Eastern Trust, Domiciliary Care Worker Donna Wiles added, “Our Residents really enjoyed the visit from Ark Open Farm, the visit has been very therapeutic for them. Visits such as this and our activities are a big part of Newcroft Lodge. There was a real sense of Spring here today.”
