Mums Find Connection And Calm Through Creative Wellbeing Programme

10th June 2026

A new creative wellbeing programme with Mums in mind, is helping to boost wellbeing and build friendships throughout the Colin area in West Belfast.

The South Eastern Trust in collaboration with the Colin Neighbourhood Partnership (CNP) and SureStart, devised, ‘Colin Calm and Connected Mums’, a six-week programme to enable them a chance to pause, create and reconnect through art workshops, yoga and mindfulness practice.

The programme provides an opportunity for Mums of young children to develop confidence through creativity and offer participants a chance to unwind while meeting others in a welcoming and friendly setting.

Several of the programme’s participants described the wellbeing programme as helping them realise the importance of making time for themselves and for their wellbeing.

One Mum shared how, “I gained practical strategies for managing stress and taking care of myself, which has had a positive impact on family life too. “

Another Mum said: “The Group was welcoming, supportive, and non-judgemental. I felt comfortable sharing and learning from other Mums.”

South Eastern Trust, Health Visitor, Natasha Higgins said, “We have had really brilliant feedback from the sessions.  Mums took the time to share with us how the programme helped them make time for their own wellbeing and how they left the workshops feeling calmer and more positive.

“We wanted to create a warm, relaxed and welcoming atmosphere and we were delighted to see new friendships formed and how our Mums left feeling more connected to themselves and their families.”
