Going the Extra Mile as Lisburn’s Assessment and Resource Centre Ramble for a Reason

7th October 2026

Service Users and staff from Lisburn’s Assessment and Resource Centre (LARC) stepped out for a good cause as they completed laps of Wallace Park to fund raise and say thank you to Sensability NI, a charity that supports children and adults with profound and multiple learning disabilities.

With the sun on their backs, Service Users swapped the Centre for the beautiful grounds of the Park as they enjoyed autumnal fresh air and the chance to spend time with nature.

South Eastern Trust, Senior Day Care Worker, Mandy Glasgow shared how the sponsored ramble was a chance for Service Users to do something a bit different.

Mandy said, “Our newly refurbished outdoor garden at LARC was made possible by the work and fundraising efforts of Sensability, Dairy Farm Services and Seymour Hill Horticultural Unit. This is our way of giving back to Sensability and to say thank you for all their help. Sensability have given so much to us that we felt it was our turn to give back to them.”

“Staff and Service Users have been completing a lap of Wallace Park and thankfully the weather has been on our side. It is great to be out in nature, in the fresh air and the ramble has been popular with our Service Users and definitely something we will consider again next year.”
