Staff in Ards Hospital Outpatient Department have chosen to forego the traditional Secret Santa exchange this year and instead, have come together to support a local food bank, “The Warehouse” in a heart-warming display of community spirit and generosity.
In the true spirit of Christmas, staff wanted to help those in need within the local community. The decision to change their holiday tradition and reach out to help others reflects the staff’s commitment to kindness. They gathered a range of non-perishable food items, hygiene products and other essentials and delivered these items to The Warehouse.
Outpatient Department Manager, Sharon-Amanda Moore was delighted with staff’s generous response. “Normally we would do a Secret Santa within the department, but this year Staff Nurse Helen Herron voiced the idea of donating to a local food bank. As soon as Helen suggested this, everyone instantly agreed that it was a great idea. We were able to create hampers that included ingredients for meals, sweet treats and other basic essentials.
“We felt proud when handing over the hampers to The Warehouse, as we know this will help many people who are struggling this year.”
