The Forget Me Not Focus Group, in partnership with the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust recently hosted a special Christmas wreath-making event as a way to provide support for those parents who are suffering the loss of a child.
Bereavement midwife at the Ulster Hospital Susan Stitt described how the event was an opportunity “to bring parents together for the craft event, to chat and make connections.”
Susan added, “This was our first ever wreath making event. We acknowledge that Christmas can be a very difficult time for our bereaved parents and that some feel isolated in their grief journey. This event gave them the opportunity to create a wreath in memory of their baby within a safe environment, surrounded by parents that understand. I would like to thank all those involved and those parents who attended and to Floral Creations, Comber and West Church in Bangor for hosting the event.”
