Boo-tiful Babies Make a Spook-tacular Entrance at the Ulster Hospital Maternity Unit

4th November 2026

Halloween brought more than tricks and treats to the Ulster Hospital this year, as four families welcomed precious new arrivals into the world this spooky season.

First time parents Anna Tilley and her partner Jay, from East Belfast, welcomed their baby boy, Albert Joseph Tilley at 11:11 am born on 28 October.

A delighted Jay said, “I saw it was 11:11 am and I made a wish, then one more push and Albert was born!”

Anna added that having a Halloween birthday would make it extra special to celebrate their son’s birthday with a seasonal theme each year.

Three more families joined in the Halloween celebrations. East Belfast mum Brittany McCann welcomed little Phoebe, weighing 5lb 6oz born on 29 October at 6.28pm. Her big sister had the honour of choosing her name.

Lauren and George Graham from Lisburn came prepared for the occasion, bringing along a pumpkin hat for their newborn daughter Erin’s first photographs! Erin was born on 29 October at 9.30am weighing 8lbs 6oz.

Rounding off the Halloween celebrations, Michaela and Stephen Parker, from Castlewellan, celebrated the arrival of their baby girl at 11.53pm on 29 October weighing 8lbs 6oz. While her name is still under wraps, she has already made this Halloween one the family will never forget.

South Eastern Trust Midwife, Catherine Smyth congratulated all the families on their new arrivals.

Catherine commented, “It is lovely to see families celebrating these precious new arrivals. It is always special to share these moments with families at such a memorable time of the year.”
