Bronagh McCabe has recently celebrated working for the Health and Social Care Trust for 40 years, with an impressive 39 years continuous absence-free service!
Bronagh began her nursing journey in 1982 as a Student Nurse working in Craigavon Hospital before moving to Daisy Hill Hospital as a qualified Staff Nurse, and then decided to make the move from the Western Trust to the South Eastern Trust in 1986, where she worked for a further 13 years in the Downe Hospital.
In 1999, after gaining a wealth of experience working within hospital settings, Bronagh progressed to Community Nursing and School Health. After completing her Health Visiting degree in 2001, she stayed within this role until 2017.
In 2017, Bronagh took up her current role as a Therapeutic Health Visitor for ABC PiP (Attachment, Bonding & Communication Parent Infant Foundation) after helping to establish the only specialist Infant Mental Health Service in Northern Ireland.
Due to her dedication to her job and continuous support to her peers and those in her care, Bronagh has been nominated for a Chairman’s Award. She plays an exceptional role within her local community and will always go the extra mile to help support those around her and is known to be of a compassionate nature.
Infant Mental Health Coordinator Janine Dougan said, “Bronagh is an amazing member of staff who frequently receives compliments and always goes the extra mile.
“As well as working within Infant Mental Health Services she has been a major part of the COVID immunisation team which was based out in the local community and she worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic.”
When asked of her plans for the future, Bronagh said, “I have recently graduated from studying over the last 2 years for the M9 Tavistock infant observation. I studied in my own time and the course was quite gruelling so I now want to be able to implement this within my work.
“I absolutely love my job, and I have no plans in slowing down just yet! I really enjoy working out in the local community, providing care and support to those that need it.
“I love all the people I care for and I want to continue doing so, for as long as possible.”
