To mark Carers Rights Day, the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust Carers Support Service hosted a special pamper and food evening at South Eastern Regional College (SERC) in Downpatrick, bringing much-needed relaxation and appreciation to local carers.

The event, attended by over 50 carers, featured pampering treatments provided by talented students from SERC’s Beauty Department, including back massages, mini facials and mini manicures. After their treatments, carers were treated to a delicious meal prepared and served in the college’s dining facilities.

Carers Support Officer, Pamela Smyth, expressed her gratitude to those who made the event a success and said, “We are delighted to have been able to offer this evening of relaxation and appreciation for carers in our community. Carers provide invaluable support to their loved ones, often at great personal sacrifice and it’s vital that we take time to acknowledge their efforts and give something back.”

The evening not only provided an opportunity for carers to unwind, but also offered a chance for them to connect with others who share similar experiences.
