It was a night to remember at Struell Lodge in Downpatrick as families, the adults being cared for at the home and staff gathered to celebrate what is the highlight of the year.
The Manager of Struell Lodge Claire Shaw said “This is an annual event which is always looked forward to within adult disability but with COVID restrictions it could not go ahead as normal. So the team at Struell brought the formal here!”
“With visiting restrictions in place it was lovely to see families getting to spend time with their loved ones. We had a BBQ in our fantastic garden space and two family members were invited to attend to facilitate social distancing guidelines. Invitations were made by the staff and posted by service users to families. A balloon arch was constructed by a staff member’s partner and we even had red carpet supplied to us by Martin Phillips! Service users got dressed in their best gear for the evening.”
“Even the music was supplied by a social worker who was very impressed by the entire event.”
“It really was a night to remember which meant so much to everyone involved.”
