Cool Kids Kick Covid Day – 17 March 2022

11th March 2022

A ‘Cool Kids Kick COVID Day’ will be springing into action at the COVID-19 Trust Vaccination Centres at the Ulster Hospital, Dundonald, Great Hall, Downshire Hospital, Downpatrick and at Lisburn Primary Care & Community Centre, Lagan Valley Hospital  on Thursday 17 March 2022. This is a great opportunity for children aged 5-11 to get their vaccination to protect them from the highly transmissible Omicron variant of COVID-19.

A fun day is expected with many activities including ‘Rhyme Time’, storytelling, face painting along with arts and crafts.

The centres will be open on 17 March 2022 as follows:

  • Ulster Hospital, Acute Services Block – 10 am-4 pm
  • Downshire Hospital – Great Hall –  9.30 am-2.30 pm
  • Lisburn Primary Care & Community Centre, Lagan Valley Hospital – 9.30 am-2.30 pm

A new, specially designed children’s formula of the Pfizer BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine has been approved for this age group and it’s given at a lower dose compared with that used for anyone aged 12 and above (10 micrograms compared with 30 micrograms). Like all children’s vaccines, this approval was given following a robust review of data showing that it is safe and effective to use in this age group. Clinical trials have shown that this vaccine is highly effective at preventing Covid-19 in children, protecting them and also reducing the chance that they will transmit the virus to others.

Appointments should be booked online at

Children will need two doses of the vaccine, 12 weeks apart. If your child has tested positive for Covid-19, you should wait 12 weeks from the positive test.

Further information for parents on the vaccine for 5 to 11 year olds can be found at:

If you or your children have any questions about the vaccine, you may find the answers you are looking for in a  short video which is available at

Car parking is  available on all sites.
