The chance for those who are a carer of a patient in the Downpatrick area to come together for chat and connection will form part of St Patrick’s Centre’s Carer Hub.
The first session will take place on Monday October 28 from 2pm-4pm and the invitation is open to those who are carers and who are interested in coming along to sample what the Hub has to offer.
Senior Social Work Practitioner Julie McAleese said, “The purpose of the Hub will be to enable carers to share their experiences in a safe environment over a cup of tea or coffee and to offer support and advice as required.”
“We plan to have information sessions from guest speakers on a range of issues and will take direction from the carers themselves in the format and direction of the sessions. We want carers to recognise that they are not alone in their caring journey and we will support them in any way we can. I hope that in the first few sessions we can plan the way forward together as we want to ensure that carers have a voice and are able to express what they want from the experience.”
