Forget Me Not Tree Planting Honour’s the Lives of Babies and Children

30th July 2026

Bereaved parents across the South Eastern Trust are being invited to purchase a tree in memory of their baby or child as part of the annual Forget Me Not Tree Planting event at Billy Neill Country Park in Dundonald later this autumn.

Organised by the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust’s Forget Me Not Bereaved Parents’ Liaison Group in partnership with Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council, the initiative offers families a lasting place of remembrance for babies and children who have died before, during or after birth.

The annual tree planting event provides bereaved families with a peaceful place to remember their babies and children while creating a lasting tribute that can be visited for years to come.

The Forget Me Not Bereaved Parents’ Liaison Group offers ongoing support to parents and families following the loss of a baby or child, providing opportunities to come together, share experiences and remember their loved ones in a compassionate and supportive environment.

South Eastern Trust, Bereavement Midwife, Jacqueline Dorrian, said, “For many parents, having a special place to visit and remember their baby or child can provide great comfort. The annual tree planting event gives families the opportunity to create a lasting tribute in a peaceful setting while remembering the precious lives of their babies and children.

“The Forget Me Not Group is committed to supporting bereaved families throughout their journey and this event is one of the many ways we help families remember their loved ones and connect with others who have shared a similar experience. We are grateful to Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council for their continued partnership in helping us provide this meaningful event.”
