The South Eastern Trust in partnership with Extern and The Fostering Network recently hosted a community fun day at Greenhill YMCA, delivered by staff and volunteers. This was an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of children and young people, and to thank those who look after them.
The event successfully provided 55 children and young people from residential and foster care along with their carers, a space to connect with others and enjoy an afternoon full of activities and treats
The children and young people had the opportunity to experience a variety of activities including magic tricks, cupcake decorating, a climbing wall, a variety of art activities, sensory play, a toddlers corner, music provided by a DJ, a variety of candy carts, an ice cream truck, funky nails, glitter tattoos and a carnival stall. There were lots smiling faces on the day, one child commented “It has been the best day ever!”
The Trust were delighted to have time to celebrate and connect with our carers and staff. The theme of ‘unwind and relaxation’ underpinned the range of activities that were offered including; mindfulness strategies, hand massage, neck and shoulder massage and wax art workshops.
The feedback on the event was very positive with a variety of foster carers and residential staff commenting;
“What a brilliant day, every single one of us loved it. Well done to all of you, it was great to see our kids appreciated by everyone.”
“Many thanks for the wonderful day out. Great time had by all and memories made for the future.”
“It was lovely to see our young person so at ease and enjoying everything.”
The South Eastern Trust would like to thank all of our staff and carers for providing wonderful care and support to our children and young people through the year.
