The Groomsport Inn opened its doors to welcome service users and their families from Balloo Training and Resource Centre for their spectacular “Winter Wonderland Ball”.
Balloo Training and Resource Centre Day Care Worker, Carly Goodall explained how the idea of the formal came directly from our service users in our Advocacy Group. “Every month we hold the Group at Balloo TRC and this is a space where our service users can come and chat with staff about their current experiences, thoughts, ideas and feelings. We also chat about future plans or activities that they would like to try,” said Carly.
It was during a meeting back in August when the idea of a formal was discussed. Carly added how, “We brought together a formal committee to organise the event, consisting of both staff and service users and plans really started to take shape. Fast forward five months later to January 2025 and a day to remember was had by all!”
Service user, Jennifer Duncan really enjoyed the formal and commented, “It was the best day ever and I can’t wait to do it all again.”
One of the parents remarked, “Our daughter has not stopped talking about the formal all weekend, she had a brilliant day!”
Carly reflected on the event stating, “The day itself was a huge success with parents and carers arriving to have professional photograph’s taken with their loved ones. We danced the day away with both live music and a fantastic DJ and enjoyed a gorgeous meal with our peers. The day will be remembered fondly for all the wonderful memories made.”
