Masonic Lodge Donates Generously to Ulster Hospital’s Children’s Ward

11th December 2024

Ulster Hospital Healthcare Play Specialist Gillian Sinclair has described as “extremely kind” a £500 donation from the Albertbridge Masonic Lodge No 535 as the Paediatric Wards prepare for Christmas.

Worshipful Master Geoff Gillam explained how the Albertbridge Masonic Lodge supported the Paediatric Ward last Christmas and decided to do so again this year.  “Part and parcel to being a Freemason is to give something back to the local community. The Children’s Ward is very important, it can be a long stay for those children and we are all family people, family men and it was deemed to be the right thing to do in terms of the donation.”

Thanking the members of the Albertbridge Masonic Lodge for their donation, Gillian added “The donation really means a lot to us, especially at this time of year.  It means we can start planning our Christmas shopping for the children and young people that are going to be on the ward this year and we really appreciate their kindness.”

Gillian explained how the donation will be put to a variety of uses as the team ensure they will have presents for all age groups on the ward, ranging from birth, right up to 18. “We are never sure who is going to be here on Christmas Day with us, but we always make sure we have a good variety as well as resources that we can use throughout the year too.”
