National Catering Award Served Up at Lagan Valley Hospital8th April 2022
A “Rising Star” has ‘cooked up’ a national catering award at Lagan Valley Hospital in Lisburn. Assistant Operational Manager Shane O’Neill, has won the ‘National Rising Star Award’ by the Hospital Caterers Association.
The award is presented to an individual who, in the course of their work, has shown a willingness to further themselves and support the work of hospital catering, whilst demonstrating Association values and displaying outstanding dedication to their job.
Shane demonstrated this commitment whilst managing the Catering Team in Lagan Valley Hospital every day. He was recognised particularly for the work he has undertaken engaging with patients and ward staff in order to improve the mealtime experience for patients and for liaising with Public Health Dietitians to develop a variety of vegan recipes. These recipes are being shared regionally within hospital catering and in schools.
Commenting on the award, Assistant Director of Patient Experience, Jeff Thompson said, “Shane is definitely a rising star! He is an inspirational, authentic leader and a huge asset to Patient Experience. I am delighted for Shane, he is a fantastic member of the Catering Team.”
