Panto Magic Set to Entertain All Ages at Ulster Hospital’s Puss in Boots Production

17th January 2024

Script rehearsals and final fittings are in full swing as the curtain prepares to come up at the Ulster Hospital’s Recreation Hall for the eagerly awaited interpretation of the classic tale “Puss in Boots”.

Running from 25 – 27 January 2024, audiences are in for a theatrical treat as the driving force behind the spectacle, Doreen Archer, explained how she has been involved in putting on musical showcases since 2006. “I started organising pantomimes in the Ulster Hospital around 2006, before this I would have organised concerts with hospital staff to raise funds for hospital equipment. We originally performed Puss in Boots in 2012, so I just thought it was time to dust it off again with a different script.”

Doreen explained that all proceeds raised from ticket sales will go to Antrim’s Crosskennan Lane Animal Sanctuary and the Ulster Hospital’s nominated charity the Kiwoko Project in Uganda.

Doreen said that audiences are in for a treat with a wealth of talent on display especially from “our youngest chorus member who is just four years old.” “Some of our principals in this performance all started when they were around this age. Many of our children have gone into acting and singing in their schools and colleges which I am just so pleased about.”

Puss in Boots will be performed at the Recreation Hall, Ulster Hospital from 25 and 26 January 2023 at 7.30pm. Matinee performances will take place on Saturday January 27 at 2pm and 7pm. Tickets are priced at £8 for adults and £6 for children. Tickets can be purchased from the front shop and Café Connect in the Ulster Hospital and the Spar, Comber Road, Dundonald.
