29th April 2025

Kathleen McKenny from Castlewellan has made a heartfelt donation of £1,100 to the Renal Unit at the Ulster Hospital.

Kathleen recently celebrated her 70th birthday and instead of receiving gifts, she asked her friends and family to contribute towards a donation for the Unit, raising an impressive sum.

Kathleen explained why she decided to donate to the unit and said, “The Renal Unit has been a huge part of my life for many years and I wanted to recognise the incredible work of the staff. I wanted this donation to be a way of giving back for the amazing care I have received over the years.”

Kathleen also expressed her gratitude to those who contributed stating, “I would like to thank my family and friends for their very generous donations. I really appreciate this kind gesture to mark my 70th birthday.”

Renal Unit, Deputy Sister, Tanya Brown praised Kathleen’s thoughtfulness, commenting, “”We are so appreciative of this wonderful donation to the Unit. It will go towards enhancing patient comforts to make their journey that little bit more special.”
