Three staff from the Estates Department within the South Eastern Health & Social Care Trust have retired after a considerable period of service.

After 33 years as a Joiner, Jim Burrows has decided to retire. Throughout these years Jim’s knowledge and skills have been invaluable in providing the high standards of care set by the Trust towards patients and staff.

Tom Paden has been a Painter in the Trust for the last 39 years. Tom’s dedication and skill will be greatly missed when he washes the brushes and hangs up the overalls for the last time. Tom and his painting have always been in great demand and he has always responded with enthusiasm. Tom was well known throughout Ards Hospital and the community where most of his work was applied.

Owen Hare has been a Maintenance Assistant for the last 40 years. For many years Owen has been based in the boiler houses both on the Ards Hospital & Ulster Hospital site which at times was challenging but he always made sure the boilers ran supplying patients and staff with warm water and heat.

We are thankful to Jim, Tom and Owen in keeping our facilities maintained and to a standard that we deserve. Their work to support staff and visitors throughout the Ulster Hospital and across the North Down & Ards Community area has been invaluable. They have worked as part of a dedicated team to ensure our hospitals and community sites are a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors especially through the recent pandemic period.

They will all be greatly missed and we would like to wish them well in their retirement.
