Local Foster Carers, children and Fostering staff from the South Eastern Health Trust came together at the weekend to attend a spooky Fostering Appreciation Halloween event held in the Burrendale Hotel in Newcastle. The event provided an opportunity to acknowledge and recognise the work that local Foster Carers do and to say thank you to the children, whilst celebrating the spirit of Halloween.
Children enjoyed some pumpkin carving activity in the Halloween garden, where they displayed their ghostly works of art. Laughter and joy echoed through the garden, as families bonded over some creative pumpkin carving!
All the children attending were in an array of fancy-dress costumes, from ghouls and goblins to superheroes and fairy-tale characters. The children also had the opportunity to take part in some Halloween-themed colouring-in activities, where their designs filled the room, reflecting their creativity.
There was a raffle with a number of prizes including an overnight stay in the Burrendale Hotel and a gift hamper. All the children who attended thoroughly enjoyed the event, leaving with a spooky party bag!
Head of Fostering and Adoption, Nuala Hanna said, “It was a pleasure to host the Halloween Foster Carer Appreciation event as an acknowledgement and a thank you for the dedication and commitment of our fabulous foster carers.”
The event not only served as a thank you to our foster families, it also helped to raise awareness about the need for more Foster Carers in the local community. The Fostering Team within the Trust continues to promote Fostering, appealing for more Foster Carers to come forward and give hope a home.
