Struell Lodge in Downpatrick is celebrating the magic of books while making a positive impact in the community to mark World Book Day.
The dedicated staff team at Struell Lodge has launched a collection of pre-loved children’s books to support a book-giving library at St Colmcille’s Primary School. With the motto, “Every child should get a book and have -time to read,” the initiative aims to encourage literacy and encourage a lifelong love of reading among young learners.
Each book donation will help support literacy programmes and ensure children have access to engaging stories and educational materials.
To further celebrate World Book Day, Struell Lodge staff and service users embraced the spirit of storytelling by dressing up as their favourite book characters. The colourful and imaginative display brought joy to the facility, highlighting the importance of books in inspiring creativity and learning.
Senior Manager, Diana MacIntyre Patel praised the initiative, stating, “World Book Day is a wonderful opportunity to promote reading and literacy within our community. Our team is passionate about making a difference and this book collection will help ensure that more children have access to books they can treasure.”
