“Like fostering, we will enjoy nurturing and caring for these little tender plants until they blossom and realise their full potential.” These are the words of Foster Carer, Tanya Dickson as the Grove Foster Carer Support Group at the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust hosted a ‘bring your own basket’ event at Ballynahinch’s Grove House.
The event provided Foster Carers to chat and connect over a ‘brew’ and biscuit and gain helpful information about fostering, by embracing all things horticultural, as those who attended learnt how to fill planters and hanging baskets.
Tanya and husband Colin described how much they enjoyed the evening under the expertise of Martin Burns and were able to “bring home beautiful planters.”
Foster Carer, Hazel Whan who also attended the event added, “Going to the Foster Carer Support Group is a great way to have some ‘me time’. It is a chance to meet with new carers and catch up with others that you might not have seen in a while. The programme is quite varied, from new and helpful information about fostering, to fun activities such as filling planters and hanging baskets.”
