Bangor’s Blackwood Mahee Golf Club through the generosity of its members, has very generously donated £2,110 to the Cancer Services Department based in the Macmillan Cancer Unit at the Ulster Hospital. This is the third year the Golf Club has nominated Macmillan as their chosen charity.
The funds were raised through the Club’s annual Captains’ Day which was held in June this year.
Presenting the cheque, Club Captain Mr Ted Rea said, “From our point of view the work and care delivered at the Macmillan Cancer Unit is the most worthwhile cause to raise funds for and donate to. As a Golf Club we have been increasing our donation year on year and want to thank all those who took part in our Captains’ Day, quizzes and raffles throughout the year.
“The care and support given to patients here and throughout the community who have and are facing Cancer is incredible.”
Lead Nurse, Claire Black commented, “We would like to thank the Golf Club for their ongoing support for the Unit and this very generous donation will enable us to deliver and support the fantastic care we provide to our patients.”
Delighted with the donation, Assistant Director Medical Specialties and Cancer Services, Mary Jo Thompson, added, “We are delighted to have the support of Blackwood Mahee Golf Club. The Club remember us every year and long may it continue!
