A team of staff from the I.T Department in the South Eastern Trust are gearing up to take on the quirky ‘Screwball Rally’ charity fundraising adventure, motoring across Europe this Thursday, to raise vital funds for Hill Croft Special Education School in Newtownabbey.
Staff will ‘rough it’ on the road while covering over 2,000 miles across France, Germany, Belgium, Austria and the Czech Republic over five days!
Prior to their departure, staff have also been busy raising funds by holding cake sales in both the Ulster and Lagan Valley Hospitals.
ICT Clinical Communications Officer, Dean Henderson explained how his daughter attends Hill Croft Special Education School and it has played a key role in supporting her development and learning, providing guidance, encouragement and opportunities that have really helped her progress.
Dean said, “By supporting us, you are helping us shine a spotlight on Hill Croft while raising vital funds for its community.”
Putting the finishing touches to their striking vehicle, ICT Training Team Leader, Reinis Babrovskis explained, “Those taking part in the rally do so in cars worth no more than £1,000. It is very reminiscent of the iconic Cannonball movies. There are themes, outfits and we will be travelling across France, Germany, Belgium, Austria and the Czech Republic.
“We have decided to choose Hill Croft as our charity, as what they do is amazing. It is going to be a trip of a lifetime and by sharing the car with four other people, will definitely be a form of ‘teambuilding’. We will definitely be disagreeing on music!” laughed Reinis.
“We would like to thank everyone who has supported us and with the bake sale in both the Ulster and Lagan Valley Hospitals.”
