Deputy Sister, Sharon Mohan has retired from the South Eastern Trust after an incredible 40 years in Nursing.
Sharon started her journey in healthcare at the age of 17 when she commenced her Nursing career at Bangor Hospital. Over the years, Sharon worked in Ards Hospital, where she worked as an Enrolled Nurse, continuously advancing her qualifications until she earned her Nursing degree. Her passion for Nursing led her to the Ulster Hospital, where she made a significant impact on both patients and colleagues.
Sharon’s journey included a period in Ward 13, but it was in Ward 4 that she truly found her calling. When the ward later moved to Ward 6A in the new Inpatient Ward Block, Sharon continued to provide exceptional care. In 2017, she took up a Band 6 position, a role she has proudly held ever since, further contributing to the well-being of her patients.
Reflecting on her long and fulfilling career, Sharon shared, “There have been many changes over the years and while it hasn’t always been easy, there have been good times, hard times and plenty of fun. I cannot imagine having done anything else other than Nursing.”
Ward Manager, Alanda Kelly, expressed heartfelt gratitude for Sharon’s contributions and said, “Sharon has been more than just a colleague, she has been a friend and mentor to many. Her commitment to her patients is truly commendable. Sharon takes on new challenges with grace and handles everything she does with kindness and dignity. In moments of vulnerability, she has been a guiding light to others. She will be sorely missed by everyone, but leaves us with a remarkable example of what a Nurse should truly be.”
