David Quigg, a dedicated and highly respected Divisional Accountant has retired from the South Eastern Health & Social Care Trust after a career spanning over three decades,
David embarked on his Health & Social Care journey in 1991, joining the former Ulster North Down & Ards Hospital Unit of Management (UNDAH), which subsequently evolved into UNDAH Trust. As a qualified Chartered Accountant, David brought with him invaluable experience from his previous roles in two accountancy firms and Dale Farm. His expertise and commitment to excellence quickly became evident in his work within Management Accounts.
Throughout his career within the Trust, David has contributed to significant transformations. The UNDAH Trust eventually became the Ulster Community and Hospitals Trust and later, the South Eastern Trust. In each phase, David’s roles have been pivotal to the Trust’s financial stability and growth.
David has held several key positions, including Assistant Director in the Ulster Community and Hospitals Trust. His extensive experience in Financial Management, Capital and Costing has been key in navigating the Trust through various financial landscapes and challenges.
In his most recent role as Divisional Accountant for Primary Care and Older People, as well as the Corporate Directorates, David has demonstrated financial leadership, ensuring that these vital services are managed with precision and foresight.
Reflecting on his career, David said, “As I step into retirement, I look back with immense pride and gratitude. It has been a privilege to work alongside such dedicated professionals and to contribute to an organisation committed to improving our community’s health and wellbeing. I am very much looking forward to my retirement and spending time with the family.”
Wishing David well in his retirement, Deputy Chief Executive and Director of Finance and Estates, Wendy Thompson added, “David has been a highly valued colleague and finance professional who has worked tirelessly throughout his long career in health supporting operational teams across the Trust in the design, delivery and reform of front-line services. His good humour and can-do attitude will be sorely missed by friends and colleagues across the whole Trust and we wish him a long and happy retirement.”
