Staff from Ulster Hospital Take Five to Mark Start of World Wellbeing Week

25th June 2024

Stencils, ink, notepads and stampers put Monday on the map at the Ulster Hospital’s Café Connect as staff and visitors joined in customising a keep sake pocket journal as part of World Wellbeing Week.

A range of activities and wellbeing stalls will be set up across Trust sites to promote self-care in the workplace, as well as seminars and Zoom sessions on healthy eating, health plans and introductory sessions to hospital sites that have an outdoor gym.

Clinical Educator Workforce at the Ulster Hospital, Tracy Gibney explained how the practice of crafting is, “Very good for your health. Crafting makes me happy and it provides a number of benefits including physical, cognitive and emotional. When we craft we are using our fine motor skills.

“It is great to see staff get involved with personalising their pocket books! Crafting is a way to express ourselves in creative ways and a way to gain confidence.”

Tracy continued: “Looking after the health of our staff and their well-being is really important.  If we don’t look after ourselves, we can’t look after anybody else. Our patients are our priority.”

First Year Diagnostic Radiography Student Ethan Kennedy added: “It’s good to be able to come down to Café Connect and take a step back for a bit. I loved getting a bit creative today and I was able to take away a personalised journal!”
