“It’s a total roller coaster of mixed emotions and I’m excited about the next chapter in my life.” These are the words of Hillsborough Health Centre’s Tissue Viability Nurse Claire Mackin who was joined by colleagues and family as she celebrated her retirement after an incredible 42 years providing compassionate nursing care.
The Tissue Viability Service Team provide specialist wound management and preventative advice for patients. They also provide practical support and education in wound management within the clinical setting.
Claire’s colleague, Tissue Viability Nurse Specialist, Vivienne Murdoch, paid tribute to her friend and described how Claire’s “expertise” has been respected and shared by so many over the years.
Vivienne said, “Claire has had a remarkable 42-year Nursing career, almost half of which has been spent in the Tissue Viability Team. Claire’s expertise has been shared with many of our staff over this time and we know how much that has been appreciated. We wish her the very best for her retirement.”
Claire added how “excited” she was for the next stage in her life. “I will miss the buzz I got from my work and I’m excited for what is ahead.”
